Academy of Physiocritics – The Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum of the Accademia dei Fisiocritici, the result of two centuries of acquisitions and donations, is one of the oldest and most important scientific museums in Tuscany. Housed in a Camaldolese monastery, it displays collections of naturalistic and historical finds, period instruments and curiosities, in a layout similar to that of the 19th century. The Museum is organised in four main sections and occupies the two floors of the building developed around the central courtyard, a large basement and a mezzanine floor with attic. In the courtyard is the Museum's emblematic exhibit: a 15-metre-long minke whale skeleton.
