Inaugurated in 1837, the Barriera Albertina is a monument consisting of two symmetrical neoclassical buildings designed by Antonio Agnelli. These twin buildings were once intended to house the headquarters of the Guard and the Customs. The allegorical statues by Giuseppe Argenti decorating the façades are very interesting; the statues depict civic virtues or activities.
