“Augusto Capriotti” Fishing Museum – Over 9,000

0
The "Augusto Capriotti" Fish Museum, dedicated to the distinguished scientist from San Benedetto, Augusto Capriotti, was opened in March 1956. Today it contains over nine thousand specimens divided into fish, crustaceans, molluscs, cetaceans, echinoderms, eelenterates and fossils. The Museum, which houses a hall with aquariums and a small archaeological section, is distinguished by the process of preparation of the specimens, which is done taxidermically: it is a process similar to embalming that allows you to preserve the colours of the subjects in a very natural way. The Museo Ittico is one of the main scientific and museological realities of the Piceno region, constantly enriching its collections with new finds.
