Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano – Christ’s holy navel
In Medieval times, some mean merchants invented a relic: Christ's holy navel. They claimed that Carlo Magno received the relic from the emperor of Byzantium and he later gave it to the Pope Clemente V. Then, the Pope split the navel into two parts: one was given to the Bishop in Châlons-en-Champagne, the other to the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, where it is still preserved. To tell the truth, this story is fake.
