0
The Basilica di San Gaudenzio is an important place of worship famous for its 121-metre high dome, the work of Alessandro Antonelli, an Italian architect and politician who owes his fame above all to the Mole Antonelliana, his most famous work. Entering the basilica and going up through the bell tower, it is possible to access the attic of the church apse and then the 'Sala del Compasso'. This room houses the ancient 11-metre-long compass, used by Antonelli himself to draw the vaults supporting the dome on a 1:1 scale.
