Basilica of San Martino – The “painter of two brushes”
Inside the Basilica of San Martino, more precisely in the fifth chapel of the right aisle, there is a Madonna and Child dating from around 1510-1515. The Virgin, surrounded by St Nicholas of Bari with the three maidens, St Lucy and St Gregory the Great, is a masterpiece by Amico Aspertini, an artist nicknamed the 'painter of two brushes' because he painted with two hands, who is buried here.
