Basilica of San Pellegrino Laziosi – A Gothic rarity

0
The Basilica di San Pellegrino Laziosi is a building containing the remains of Saint Pellegrino, built in the Baroque style and very bright. The interior is divided into three naves, with ten side altars that all converge towards the apse. The polychrome marble high altar is very beautiful and is the only example of Gothic construction in Romagna. Also worth seeing is the niche containing the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, made by Angelo Piò, and the Chapel dedicated to the saint, covered by a dome frescoed by Francesco and Felice Bondi. Due to the importance of the works of art it houses, the church is recognised as a National Monument.
