The marvellous Chapel Caetani, on the left nave of the basilica, is the result of renovation works of the older chapel, which was built above the residence of senator Pudente, father of St. Pudenziana and Prassede. Legend has it that, in that place, a host fell on the ground and left a mark still visible on the steps of the altar.
