Broletto Palace – The oldest building in Lombardy

0
Palazzo Broletto, located in Piazza della Vittoria, is the oldest palace in Lombardy. It was built at the behest of Bishop San Damiano in 1100, who decided to use it as the bishop's seat, and the courtyard of the building was the meeting place of the municipal administration, guests of the bishop. The layout of the building, which was initially horseshoe-shaped, was modified at the end of the 13th century by the construction of the apses of the cathedral to the west, the addition of which created the current quadrilateral-shaped layout around the inner courtyard.
