Carrara Academy Museum – Second floor, Room I

0
Room I on the second floor of the Accademia Carrara museum is the International Gothic room and contains Lombard and Venetian works executed between the 14th and 15th centuries, including: the "Madonna and Child" by Jacopo Bellini, the "Martyrdom of Saint Lucia and the Martyrdom of Saint Apollonia" by Alvise Vivarini and the "Five Saints" by Mariotto di Nardi. The "Tarocchi viscontei", attributed to Bonifacio Bembo and his circle, a rare and refined testimony of the "courtly" taste in vogue at the court of Filippo Maria Visconti, are particularly noteworthy, placed in cases protected from the light that could ruin their fragile paper supports.
