Building number 16 on corso Galileo Ferrari in shrouded in mystery. While it's attributed to architect Pietro Fenoglio, nobody knows whom it was built for: only its moniker, "casa Rey", suggests that it may have been mountaineer Guido Rey, a popular figure in the early 20th century. Even less clear is the history of one of the building's more sinister elements: the cornice below the top-floor windows, adorned on three sides by grinning devil heads. Just Fenoglio's idea of a joke, or Rey's explicit request?
