Castle of Valentino – Madame Christine’s night
After Christine of France became a widow, in 1637, her brothers-in-law had her surrounded by spies in the hopes of gaining proof of her plans to overtake the Dukedom. Christine took residence in the Castle of Valentino, which she had specially remodeled. Unconfirmed rumors claim that she entertained many illicit liaisons there, but it's certain that the castle was suddenly a lot more active, becoming the setting for memorable feasts. According to legend, each year on the 10th of February its halls suddenly light up and ring with music and laughter, as Lady Christine celebrates her birthday with one more lavish reception.
