The Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica (National Institute for Graphics) is an Italian museum created to conserve, protect and promote a heritage of works documenting graphic art in all its forms. It was founded in 1975 through the merger of the Calcografia Nazionale and the Gabinetto Nazionale delle stampe. Among the exhibits are approximately 25,000 drawings and almost 114,000 prints, representative of the European graphic arts scene from the 16th to the 19th century, in addition to those that once belonged to the National Chalcography. There are also matrices (almost 24,000), photographs (about 17,000 negatives, positives, daguerreotypes, ferrotypes, ambrotypes, autochromes and other photographic reproduction techniques) and multimedia works.
