The Church of San Callisto was built where once the house of a praetorian, a place often used by Pope Callisto I to pray, was located. He was persecuted by Alessandro Severo and, at the end, the Pope was defenestrated and drown into a well still visible in the courtyard of the former convent annexed to the church.
