Built in 1323, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina owes its name to the relic of a thorn from the crown of Christ that was once kept inside. Initially placed on the bank of the Arno, due to the continuous infiltration of water, it was dismantled and reassembled at the level of the Arno in 1870.
