Church of Santa Sabina – Napoleon’s portrait
The main gate of the Basilica of Santa Sabina is adorned with tiles of wood made in the 5th century A.D., representing scenes from the Old and the New Testament. In one of the tiles a pharaoh is chasing after the Jews trying to cross the Red Sea. It is curious to notice that the pharaoh has Napoleon's face who, in reality, was the first European monarch who ever acknowledged freedom and rights to Jews.
