Church of St Daniel – The divine sign

0
The church of St Daniel arose from a prodigious event. On 30 November 1076, Bishop Ulderico decided to have the relics of St Daniel brought from the basilica of Santa Giustina to the cathedral. But at the height of what is now Umberto I, the sky suddenly became dark and threatening, and the ark containing the holy remains became so heavy that it was impossible to transport them. Ulderico realised that this was a sign and founded the church of San Daniele. The saint, however, was buried in the cathedral.
