Church of St. Francesco a Ripa Grande – “The Ecstasy” and the three-dimensional dragon

0
The Church of St. Francesco a Ripa was the first church to be dedicated to the saint and it preserves several important artworks. Among the most importante ones, "The Ecstasy" made by Gianlorenzo Bernini in 1674 and located in Chapel Altieri. The sculpture represents a woman, presumably Ludovica Albertoni or St. Anna. A lesser popular work: the ceiling of the sacristy decorated with the image of St. Michele defeating a dragon. This dragon is particularly "dangerous" thanks to its three-dimensional tail, probably made of stucco, that comes out of the painting.
