The present Church of St. Maria in St. Satiro was erected on an existing church dedicated to St. Satiro after a miracle happened in 1242. The legend says that a painting of the Madonna preserved in the church was stabbed and red blood came out from the it. Two centuries later Bramante completed the new church renamed in honour of the Holy Mary.
