In the Church of St Peter the Apostle rests Eustochio, born Lucrezia Bellini, perhaps the only possessed blessed in the history of the Church. The life of this young woman was very troubled. Born from the sacrilegious union of a nun and a local squire, Bartolomeo Bellini, Lucrezia was placed in her mother's convent while still a child. She immediately revealed her dual nature to the world: on the one hand, her propensity for monastic life and prayer, and on the other, the violent attacks that were said to be due to the devil possessing her body. Afflicted by torments and a strange illness, she died at the age of 25, shortly after taking her vows. Four years after her death, her body was exhumed from the tomb. Immediately, a clear and miraculous water flowed from it.
