Church of the Precious Blood of Jesus – The old man from Senavra

0
The building located at Corso XXII Marzo 50, which today houses a church (the parish of the "Precious Blood of Jesus Christ") is the Senavra, which in the past housed an asylum for the mentally ill, to be precise the first one opened in the city back in 1780, and later, in the first half of the 19th century, the Milan asylum. To tell the truth, it housed not only lunatics (real or presumed), but also the deaf, dumb, blind and physically deformed children abandoned by their parents. Since then, however, the restless spectre of an inmate who died in the asylum, affectionately known as the 'Old Man of the Senavra' (or 'Old Man of the Senavra'), has apparently been wandering around the building, amusing passers-by. The only way to get rid of him is said to be to throw a coin at him.
