Comitini Palace – Courtesies for guests

0
Like any self-respecting residence, Palazzo Comitini also had its 'courtesies for guests'. Just take a tour of the imposing building to find them. A few examples? On either side of the entrance leading from the loggia to the main floor were two stone faces with their mouths wide open. Here the servants could extinguish their burning torches. And what about the railings? Some of the balconies had iron railings, with a rounded "goose-breasted" shape, to allow the ladies, who typically wore bulky bell-shaped skirts, to look out without discomfort.
