Amid the several treasures harbored by the Egyptian Museum you'll certainly notice the recurring (and slightly unsettling) presence of the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet, depicted in as many as twenty-one statues throughout the exhibit. According to one of many interpretations, Sekhmet acts as the "other face" of the cat goddess Bastet, deity of love, sensuality and seduction, muse of dance and song and sometimes-keeper of the Wadjet, or Eye of Ra. Like all felines, this loving goddess should never be underestimated: those who provoke her wrath will see the mellow cat turn into a fierce lioness.
