Fondazione Corrente – Treccani’s canvas

On the first floor of Corrente Foundation you can admire the huge canvas made by Ernesto Treccani between 1969 and 1975. Treccani was shocked by the terroristic attack of Piazza Fontana and decided to attend the funeral of the 17 victims, where he imagined the scene of the painting: the crowd silently participating at the ceremony seen from the point of view of the coffins, that is, of the victims. Treccani depicted people he really recognised in the crowd as well as himself, twice: in the middle, a little bit down on the right, and on the left upper corner, both recognisable for the blu beret.
