Fontana del Porcellino – The boar’s tradition

0
On the southern side of the Mercato Nuovo lodge one can spot the so-called "fountain of the Piglet" (actually a boar), a bronze copy by Pietro Tacca (1621) of a Greek marble displayed at the Uffizi Gallery. According to tradition, if one thows a coin into the fountain and then rubs the boar's snout, they'll be fated to one day return to Florence.
