Fontana della Barcaccia – Bernini’s wreck

What is the story behind "Barcaccia" at Piazza di Spagna? It seems that when a fountain was commissioned to him, Bernini was worried and full of doubts, especially about the water pressure, very low in that point. The legend has it that, while thinking over and over again, he noticed a wreck brought there during a flood of Tevere river and never removed. He took inspiration from it and projected a "boat-fountain", a spectacular fountain that, at the same time, needs very low water pressure due to low height.
