Fonte dell'Acqua Acetosa area has been the setting of a romantic love story between the Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria and the beautiful Marchioness Marianna Florenzi. It is said that the Prince was so in love of the girl and the city of Rome that made everything he could to make the park where they used to meet as beautifu as possible. Unfortunately, the love story had not a happy end due to national matters, but their relationship continued even after they had to separate from each other. Today, we can still find a trace of their love: an inscription in German language carved on a bench saying: "These benches and trees were placed here by order of Ludwig, Prince of Bavaria".
