Former Church of San Romano – The face of the Bafometto
The former Church of San Romano housed various religious orders until it was closed in 1808 by the Baciocchi family. The tombs of several Teutonic Knights and that of Capoana Donoratico, wife of Dante's Count Ugolino, can be admired against the outside wall. Curiously enough, on the lunette of the side portal you can also see a picturesque bearded face with demonic features in which someone has seen the representation of the Templar Bafometto.
