Ghisilardi-Fava Palace – The indecipherable code of the Bologna Stone

0
Inside Palazzo Ghisilardi-Fava is the text of the so-called Pietra di Bologna (Bologna Stone), for some a funeral epitaph, for others a series of clues leading the alchemist to his treasure, the synthesis of the Philosopher's Stone. The epigraph, created by the Gaudenti friars, who for some, such as the historian Carlo Pancaldi, are said to have been members of an esoteric sect, indicates the alchemical steps by means of which it would be possible to recreate the Philosopher's Stone in the laboratory, capable of giving eternal life and transforming lead into gold. So much so, it is said, that if Bologna had discovered this secret contained in the epigraph, it would have become extremely rich. However, to date, the code imprinted on the Bologna Stone has never been deciphered.
