Gianicolo – Pio IX’s cannon
In Gianicolo hill you can find a cannon built by order of Pope Pio IX in 1847. He wanted that the cannon fired every day at noon in order to make all the churches' bells in Rome ring together. On January, 24th 1904, the cannon was moved under Garibaldi's statue; on some days, the shot can be heard even in Esquilino.
