Several celebrities have stayed at the "Grand Hotel et de Milan". Room n. 303 hosted Hernest Hemingway, who was severely injured during the bombardments in Milan. Maria Callas lived in room n. 114 during the play "La Traviata" by Verdi. Vittorio De Sica, who overnighted in room n. 312, even shot here a scene for his last movie "The Voyage". And what about Verdi? The famous composer turned room n. 105 into his residence: from here he could greet his friend Contess Maffei who lived at the corner of Via Bigli, and be near his temple, La Scala. In this room he even composed evergreen operas such as "Falstaff" and "Otello". He passed away here on 27, January 1901.
