The Istituto Storico e di Cultura dell'Arma del Genio (Historical and Cultural Institute of the Corps of Engineers) is a historical and cultural centre, museum and exhibition space founded in 1906 by Captain of Engineers Mariano Borgatti under the name of 'museum of military engineering'. The collections on display here consist of relics describing the history of the Corps of Engineers, from the wars of Italian independence to the two world wars. In the inner courtyard of the museum there is also a memorial chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of engineers.
