Among the many legends surrounding Isabella's bridge, one originated as the structure was still being built. Apparently, a child carrying lunch for his brick-laying father slipped and tumbled into the river, and was dragged to safety only thanks to the bravery of six builders who plunged into the waters at his cries for help. As a sign of his gratitude, the father engraved his colleagues' names on a tile and incorporated it into the still-unfinished parapet. To this day, the memento's exact collocation remains an unsolved mystery.
