Lake Baratz is a small lake and the only one in the Sardinian region, whose depth has tended to remain stable or decrease for some time now due to the permeability of the sand dune, which absorbs a large part of the water. However, the area is populated by several rare species of animals, such as the freshwater tortoise ("Emys orbicularis"), the coot ("Fulica atra") and the mallard ("Anas platyrhynchos").
