Loggia del Bigallo – The “Madonna ofa Mercy”
Anciently famous for the elegant marble lodge where lost or abandoned children found refuge, Loggia del Bigallo harbors within its Hall of Captains the beautiful "Madonna of Mercy", a 1342 fresco featuring the oldest painted overview of the Florentine skyline. Also displayed at the Lodge is a crucifix by the "Bigallo Master", one of the first tablet paintings produced in Florence.
