On the site where the Teatro Massimo was built, the church and monastery of the Stigmata once stood. While the new structure was being built, razing the two sacred buildings to the ground, it seems that the tomb of a nun was desecrated. Since then, the shadow of a short woman seems to have been seen several times on the stage, backstage and even in the basement of the theatre, where some nights strange and mysterious noises can be heard.
