Medieval House – The oldest house in Cividale

0
The Medieval House is known as the "oldest house in Cividale" or also as the "goldsmith's house". In fact, this building, dating back to the second half of the 14th century, must have housed a goldsmith's workshop. The present three-storey structure seems to be the original one, while doors and windows have been modified and enlarged, except for the small window on the first floor where medieval tradition places the workshop's administrative office. The house was built by reusing a previous stone structure, most probably a tower. Inside there is a fragment of medieval sculpture belonging to a pillar or a cymatium and reused here.
