There is only one monument in Europe dedicated to the tragedy of 11 September and it is in Padua. The work is called "Memoria e Luce" (Memory and Light) and represents a large steel and glass book, open towards the Statue of Liberty in New York: a white book still to be written, with a "piece" of memory embedded between the pages. In fact, the left page contains an almost six-metre beam from the south tower of the World Trade Center, which was donated by the United States to the Veneto Region.
