Monte Testaccio – A Roman “landfill”

0
In Testaccio area, at the very centre of Rome, there is "Monte dei Cocci" or "Monte Testaccio", a real landfill of the Roman Empire. The ancient Roman used to come here to throw away broken amphoras coming from Tevere river, where trade was carried out. Eventually, the junk accumulated became a little hill, where today you can have a walk hoping to find out relics from the 3rd century A.D..
