Municipal Museum – Precious frescoes

0
The Civic Museum of Siena is housed in the Palazzo Pubblico, a building constructed largely between the end of the 13th century and the first half of the 14th, to house the Nine Lords who governed the Republic of Siena from 1287 to 1355. Inside are precious frescoes, including Simone Martini's "Maestà" and "Guidoriccio da Fogliano" in the Sala del Mappamondo and Ambrogio Lorenzetti's Good Government cycle in the Sala dei Nove. Other noteworthy works include the cycle of "Famous Men" by Taddeo di Bartolo in the anticappella and the "exempla virtutis" by Domenico Beccafumi in the Sala del Concistoro.
