The Museum of Earth Sciences represents a cultural reality at the service of the University and the citizens. The Museum provides for the collection, cataloguing, conservation and valorisation of geological materials, such as rocks, fossils, minerals, and historical scientific instruments relating to the Earth Sciences. The collections also include: ornamental and building stones used in historical times in the Sienese territory; anthropological finds dating from the Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages. The most significant and valuable finds are displayed in showcases illustrating the history of the Earth and Man. The Museum also offers active geology workshops and excursions for school students of all levels. In addition to on-site activities, the Museum also organises excursions to areas with interesting rock outcrops or urban geology.
