The Museum of Oriental Art, opened in December 2008, is one of the most important in Italy and one of the largest in Europe for the knowledge and study of Oriental art. Housed in the historic Palazzo Mazzonis, it offers a broad panorama of the art of ancient Asian cultures. The galleries, arranged on the four floors of the building, present works from South and South-East Asia, the most important collection of Chinese funerary art in Italy covering the period from the Neolithic to the Tang era, religious and secular Japanese art, art from the Himalayan region and a significant collection of Islamic art. On the ground floor, in addition to the attractive Japanese gardens, there is a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
