Museum of Rural Life – The work of the land
The Museo della Civiltà Contadina (Museum of Rural Life) is housed in the Campus Agroalimentare Raineri Marcora, a large area that hosts the Istituto Tecnologico Statale di Istruzione Superiore Agraria, Agroalimentare e Agroindustriale (State Technological Institute of Higher Education in Agriculture, Food and Agroindustry) of Piacenza. The collection documents the essential aspects of the rural world through the display of tools and utensils used for working the land and the related activities of transformation and processing of agricultural products from the plains, hills and mountains, furniture and objects related to everyday life and family life (food, popular religion, toys, clothing, means of transport and popular medicine). The exhibition is enriched by large black and white images by the documentary photographer Tino Petrelli, who spent the last years of his long career in Piacenza.
