Museum of the Risorgimento – The Pinocchio book
The Museum of the Risorgimento is an extremely important place, where numerous relics are collected that tell a century and a half of history: from the first Austrian domination until 1948. There are many curious objects, also relating to the Resistance period. Among them is a Pinocchio book. What does this have to do with it, you ask? The cover of 'The Adventures of Pinocchio' was used to camouflage the first translation of Hermann Rauschning's book 'Hitler's Confidences'. This work was the first strong indictment of Nazism, the prints of which were made in a secret printing house, hidden under a church, and sold for one hundred liras "in favour of the families of those shot".
