National Archaeological Museum – Findings from the Sienese excavations

0
The National Archaeological Museum of Siena, founded in 1933 by Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, is divided into an antiquarian and a topographical section. The first one includes finds mainly from excavations in the areas of Siena and Chiusi, from different periods: the oldest ones date back to the Bronze Age. Among the most valuable specimens are examples of Etruscan red-figure ceramics, including a large krater with the Death of Aegisthus, Italiote, Apulian and Campanian ceramics, as well as elements of architectural decoration in terracotta. The topographical section is instead divided by areas of origin of the finds.
