National Archaeological Museum of Taranto – Marta – The “Head of Herakles”
The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto (MARTA) houses numerous archaeological finds and artefacts from different historical periods found in the Taranto area. The rooms on the first floor are occupied by the Greek-Roman section. Noteworthy marble sculptures include the 'Kore' from 500 BC, the 'Votive Statue of Athena' and the 'Head of Herakles'. Among the gold items, the 'Diadem', the 'Crowns' and the 'Disc Earrings with Three Pendants' stand out for their preciousness.
