National Archaeological Museum – The ‘tabula alimentaria

The National Archaeological Museum in Parma houses finds from the Final Palaeolithic, Neolithic and Eneolithic periods, with abundant material from the Bronze and Iron Ages. Among the bronzes we cannot fail to mention the famous "tabula alimentaria", the largest of the Roman bronze inscriptions that have come down to us, dating back to the beginning of the 2nd century, which mentions the names of some of the landowners of "Veleia" and some neighbouring areas who were beneficiaries of an imperial loan, the income from which was used to support poor children.
