New Castle – The Castel Nuovo Civic Museum

0
The Castel Nuovo Civic Museum is located inside the castle of the same name. The first room is the Palatine Chapel, which houses Giotto paintings, decorative remains attributed to Maso di Banco and a 15th-century ciborium by Iacopo della Pila. Other 14th-century fresco cycles from the Balzo di Casaluce castle and the 14th-century ciborium of San Gennaro extra Moenia are also kept here. On the first floor are 15th-century paintings from Sant'Eligio Maggiore, such as a Madonna and Child with Saints, and numerous 16th- and 17th-century paintings, such as a Death of St Joseph by Paolo De Matteis. The second floor houses paintings from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries now owned by the City of Naples.
