Palazzo Benso di Cavour – A dream of a unified Italy
Palazzo Cavour's past is truly illustrious: in these halls first saw the light the notion of a unified Italy under the Savoy crown, and it's here that newspaper "Il Risorgimento" was founded in 1847, with an initial circulation of barely 2,000 copies sold for 40 cents each. Since the average worker's salary hardly exceeded a single lira, the paper encountered understandable difficulties in finding an audience, demanding an individual monetary effort from its founders (among whom was Cavour himself) in order to circulate its separatist ideas.
