Palazzo Malvezzi Campeggi – The Malvezzi Conspiracy

0
Palazzo Malvezzi Campeggi was Pope Julius II's gift to the Malvezzi family, compensation for all the persecutions carried out by the Bentivoglio family, who had expropriated them of all their property and exiled them from the city following the failed massacre of 1488. On the night of 27 November 1488, Giovanni Malvezzi was supposed to have killed the entire Bentivoglio family, lords of the city, by introducing three armed groups into their palace. However, the conspiracy was discovered and Giovanni and his companions were hanged. But this was not enough. The Bentivoglio's vengeance affected every member of their families.
